The Future of Obbo

It has been around 6 months since my last update to Obbo. I've been busy with college and was somewhat out of inspiration for the game. Recently, however, inspiration has struck, as well as me feeling more confident in the ideas I initially had for continuing the games development. I think that it is now appropriate to share a roadmap for further Obbo development. This will likely be a somewhat slow process that does not have any set release dates, so I'm sorry about that, but I will definitely try to pick up development. As for what to expect in the future? Here's what is on the table:

Obbo Roadmap

Update 1.0.3
  • Overhaul of the room system.
  • Basic NPCs
  • New music
  • Birds!
  • More UI (still maintaining a minimalist approach)
This update will likely be mostly a complete redesign of some of the underlying systems for the game, not a ton of noticeable features to be added. This will be in preparation for a BIG 1.0.4 update (hopefully).
Update 1.0.4
  • Shops
  • Upgrades
  • Keys and doors to progress stages
  • Lots more levels and level variants

This update will be meant to add more roguelike aspects to the game. A key feature of this will be level variants so that each room will likely have multiple versions that involve varying difficulties of platforming challenges, the difficulty scaling as you play. Additionally, upgrades should increase mobility and allow for more interesting platforming challenges.

Update 1.0.5
  • Co-op
  • Puzzles
  • Quests

Maybe won't be the biggest update, but should make it much more interesting.

All of this is still subject to change, but I think all that is mentioned here will be in the game in some form by the time an Update 1.1.0 rolls around. I have some plans for that too, but I won't share too much yet ;)

I have no idea when 1.0.4 or 1.0.5 will come out, but keep an eye out for 1.0.3 in the next couple months. I may be making more regular posts here, and will probably make a post when 1.0.3 is on the horizon.

That's all for now!
